NASCAR All-Star Race & VO?
I may have mentioned a while back that a body guard friend of mine in Los Angeles needed a couple radio PSA's done last year for a dog shelter he is associated with. Because he is a long-time friend and it's a great cause, I wanted offer them free of charge. Afterwards, he said "You like NASCAR, right...isn't it NASCAR country where you are now?....let me contact my buddy with NASCAR and see if he can get you tickets.
Well, as you might have guessed, my fully produced PSA's for a dear friend ended up turning into an unexpected blessing for me and my wife. We received what is called HOT Passes to the All Star Race last year. A HOT Pass allows you into the garage and pit area at all times before, during and after the race...you can be around the drivers, cars etc.
This year I emailed the fella who sent us tickets last year to see if he still had access to them. He was very happy to set us up again!!! WOW, funny how when you give, you get back more than you gave. When we "plant seeds", we find that more crop comes than the number of seeds planted. It's been that way in my life and this past weekend was no exception. My wife and I watch the 40 lap Showdown race while SITTING ON THE PIT WALL right next to the NAPA #55 of Michael Waltrip and right in front of the "pit crash cart" for the eventual winner of the NASCAR All Star Race, Tony Stewart. We even went out onto the race track for driver introductions!! Joe Gibbs was sitting right next to us and we spoke with JD Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing as well as Wendy Venturini from SPEED-TV.
So, as with the blessings and enormous enjoyment I received from serving Victory Junction Gang Camp & Kyle Petty last year, for which I was given a certificate to drive 8 laps by myself at FULL SPEED at Lowes Motorspeedway, so it was with my friend Glenn in Los Angeles and the subsequent "gift of access" to NASCAR events and things I could never have gotten on my own.
I'm learning...how about you?
...to be continued
